ISN discuss Columbia

17th January 2006

The Irish Socialist Network held its first public meeting in Belfast on Thursday 12th January. The meeting, to hear a report from their member Dan Finn, was dismissed by one wag as unnecessary because of the number of recent meetings on the issue.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The speaker described a new and ruthless offensive against workers. The semi-fascist President Uribe, backed by the US government and multinationals, had legalised the death squads and was using them in a campaign of terror and murder to dismantle unions and all forms of local democracy.

The meeting ended with a common determination to carry forward the task of solidarity.
