Summary

The upcoming elections in November have been presented as the most critical in US history determining whether the nation will retain any remnant of democracy or move towards a type of fascism. Many on the US left have accepted the proposition that we are in an unprecedented period that makes the defeat of Trump the overriding priority.  As a consequence they have adopted a position of calling - either openly or by implication - for a vote for Joe Biden and the Democrats despite the record of that individual and his party as bulwarks of US capitalism and imperialism.

Can this be justified in any way?  Are the choices really that stark? Are we really living in such a unique period of history.  And what of the working class - can it act independently under such circumstances.  These are some of the critical questions that we will seek to address during this discussion.
