Hello

Three  days ago Col. Gen Leonid Ivashov, president of the Russian Academy of Geopolitical Studies ,said that the likelihood of a war against Iran was growing with each passing day, and that "causing chaos and instability" was becoming Washington's official policy line. Ivashov told the Russian news agency , RIANovosti , “We are close to a serious conflict - U.S. and NATO preparations on a strategic scale are ongoing. In the operation the West conducted on Georgian soil against Russia - South Ossetians were the victims or hostages of it - we can see arehearsal for an attack on Iran." Socialist Democracy says that the anti war movement in Ireland has failed to deal with the threats against Iran . That’s true , but what has Socialist Democracy’s  own record  been on the matter? I have looked through your archives and found no call in them for the defence of Iran . The abstract , non-class formulation “Hands off thePeople of Iran” is  always  substituted for the principled demand “Hands Off Iran”. John Mc Anulty's article is much better  “ Marxists defend countries against imperialist attack.  That defence is unconditional. It is not a moral judgement and does not depend on the character of the regime. “ Exactly .
